The Walking Dead set a new record for a season premiere on GetGlue with 160,949 check-ins, comments, and more yesterday according to Trendrr.tv. Viewers checked-in throughout the day during an AMC marathon, but conversation hit a fever pitch for the season three premiere at 9/8c with more than 123,000 activities when the show was on.

Lurching past previous record holders Game of Thrones (99,038 activities for the season 2 premiere) and True Blood (150,790 activities for the season 5 premiere), The Walking Dead didn’t only dominate the already crowded Sunday night slate. It also killed its own previous records for the 2011 fall premiere (42,931 activities), 2012 winter premiere (84,269 activities), and the season 2 finale (109,779).
GetGlue users were not only enjoying sharing their thoughts on the survivors’ (and the zombies’) return, but they also couldn’t get enough of the images and videos for the show from AMC on GetGlue. Check out those likes and comments, and go to the feed for The Walking Dead for more media.

Once Upon a Time continued to be the biggest show on broadcast with 62,041 activities, with other ABC favorites Revenge (30,684 activities) and 666 Park Avenue (24,481 activities) keeping viewers engaged as well. Dexter boasts 36,450 activities for the viewers who don’t know where this season will take their favorite serial killer.

If GetGlue stats are any indication, you were probably sitting in front of your TV last night. We saw a huge amount of activity across the large number of premieres, with a record-breaking season two opener for ABC’s Once Upon a Time.

In the chart above, total activity accounts for all GetGlue activities, including check-ins, comments, likes, and more. The percentage change marks growth from last season’s premiere.
Once Upon a Time
ABC was the night’s big winner with three huge premieres. After Forbes documented the show’s domination in its first season, GetGlue chart topper Once Upon a Time had a fairy-tale victory with almost 94,000 activities yesterday according to Trendrr.tv. This is a 30% jump over the first season finale’s stats and more than three times its season one premiere numbers. In just the hours surrounding its 8/7c air time, the show got more than 86,000 in activity, a GetGlue record for a broadcast premiere!
Revenge
At 9/8c, juicy drama Revenge also had you talking with more than 50,000 activities on GetGlue, and it didn’t lose any steam in its move from Wednesday night to Sunday night between seasons. It had 50% more activity than its May finale and almost five times what we saw for its series premiere a year ago. Spooky newcomer 666 Park Avenue also scared up 48,000 check-ins, comments, and more.
Dexter
After racking up multiple wins at the Emmys last week, Showtime also reigned over the cable world yesterday. Dexter was tops with almost 71,000 activities with GetGlue users excited for the season seven premiere and tuning in to see what would happen after Deb’s dramatic discovery. This represents a huge bump from its season six premiere, bringing in more than three times the activity.
Homeland
Meanwhile, Emmy-winning drama Homeland started its sophomore season off strong with 35,000 activities, bringing in huge year-over-year growth with four times the numbers of its season one premiere. The buzz continues to build. Are you watching yet?
FOX
It wasn’t all serious fare racking up the numbers on GetGlue last night. FOX’s slate of Animation Domination premieres had you checking-in and chatting (and quoting the lines that had you laughing). The Simpsons gathered over 34,000 check-ins, comments, etc. on their return trip to NYC, and Family Guy wasn’t far behind with almost 31,000 in GetGlue activity. These numbers are six times what the shows saw for their premieres last year. American Dad had 22,000 activities yesterday, while Bob’s Burgers stacked up 18,000 in check-ins and more.

TV programming during the summer typically lacks a little luster, as most of our beloved shows are on hiatus, but activity on GetGlue is showing no signs of slowing down.
In June, we launched updates for the iPhone which now includes push notifications. Additionally, we just rolled out an app-like mobile site, so users can connect to GetGlue regardless of mobile device. Additionally, we helped HBO, USA Network, TNT, and others launch new shows, by offering exclusive stickers during the premieres.
All of this activity yielded some impressive data. In June, we logged 7 million check-ins, up 400% from January of this year.

We also set a new record in ratings and reviews, and reached a new monthly high in total amount of actions on the service at 20 million. To date, our database contains over 170 million check-ins, ratings and reviews.
We also saw record breaking premiere numbers in June! True Blood fans – or “Truebies” – posted more than 40,000 unique check-ins, when the fourth season premiered on June 26, beating the previous highest rated event of this year, the Oscars, by 25%.
Comments and replies also reached new heights in June, touching 3 million. This means that nearly half of all check-ins get a response on GetGlue, indicating high engagement on the service. The average and median engagement of our users has grown 50% since January.
Finally, GetGlue’s reach through Facebook and Twitter hit an all time high, as more than 100,000 check-ins were shared per day to Facebook and Twitter, an increase of 25% from May. We estimate that 80 million friends and followers are being reached through Facebook and Twitter every day.
June’s user activity data helps prove what we already knew – that GetGlue users are passionate about the entertainment content they love, and that GetGlue is increasingly the place where they choose to socialize around that content.
