Smart Profiles

Fred Wilson, one of our investors, blogged yesterday about Smart Profiles:

[This] is a link to my linkedin profile, but because I have the smartlinks javascript in my blog template, it also generates a smartlink. Try clicking on the little blue icon, and you’ll get some data on my background and links to a bunch of my profiles on the Internet.

As Fred mentions, the result is a nice aggregated profile that’s produced automatically. You can click through to find Fred’s Facebook, MyBlogLog, and Twitter profiles.

Earlier today I saw Noah post this on Twitter:

noah twitter - 2408

And thanks to the new BlueOrganizer beta that I’m testing a SmartLink was inserted, directly on Twitter, next to the link to Obama’s LinkedIn profile.

Clicking on it allowed me to see the summary of Obama’s LinkedIn profile as well as discovering Obama’s Twitter and Facebook profile.

Want to easily enable an aggregated profile on your site? Install SmartLinks and link to your LinkedIn profile. Want a SmartLink button for your profile like the one below for your sidebar? Drop me a line and I’ll pass along the simple instructions: fraser[dot]keltonATgmail[dot]com.
