TV programming during the summer typically lacks a little luster, as most of our beloved shows are on hiatus, but activity on GetGlue is showing no signs of slowing down.
In June, we launched updates for the iPhone which now includes push notifications. Additionally, we just rolled out an app-like mobile site, so users can connect to GetGlue regardless of mobile device. Additionally, we helped HBO, USA Network, TNT, and others launch new shows, by offering exclusive stickers during the premieres.
All of this activity yielded some impressive data. In June, we logged 7 million check-ins, up 400% from January of this year.

We also set a new record in ratings and reviews, and reached a new monthly high in total amount of actions on the service at 20 million. To date, our database contains over 170 million check-ins, ratings and reviews.
We also saw record breaking premiere numbers in June! True Blood fans – or “Truebies” – posted more than 40,000 unique check-ins, when the fourth season premiered on June 26, beating the previous highest rated event of this year, the Oscars, by 25%.
Comments and replies also reached new heights in June, touching 3 million. This means that nearly half of all check-ins get a response on GetGlue, indicating high engagement on the service. The average and median engagement of our users has grown 50% since January.
Finally, GetGlue’s reach through Facebook and Twitter hit an all time high, as more than 100,000 check-ins were shared per day to Facebook and Twitter, an increase of 25% from May. We estimate that 80 million friends and followers are being reached through Facebook and Twitter every day.
June’s user activity data helps prove what we already knew – that GetGlue users are passionate about the entertainment content they love, and that GetGlue is increasingly the place where they choose to socialize around that content.

Once again we are helping to organize Add-on-Con, the only conference dedicated to developers and marketers of browser extensions.
The conference, much like the Web itself, is evolving. Robert and I wrote a post about the evolution:
Thanks to new technologies, improved standards, and the proliferation of connected devices, the web is evolving beyond the URL … developers need to be more focused on creating applications that enhance the user experience of the Internet.
Today, there are fundamental changes occurring in the way that the average consumer uses the web. We’ve evolved the conference to focus discussion on how browser extensions fit - and thrive - given these changes.
My experience at GetGlue speaks to the real value that browser extensions will continue to provide. The browser extensions, website and mobile apps provide unique experiences for slightly different use-cases. Together, they weave together a great experience for the consumer.
If you are interested in joining this conversation, I encourage you to come to the conference next week. Register today using this discount code to save 30%: SuperSecretAddonConDiscount

Three months ago we discussed the pending introduction of the Thumbs-Down button via a Glue Labs blog post. Often requested, the Thumbs-Down button was a welcome addition to Glue.
Since then, the second most requested feature has been ‘Save for Later’ functionality. As individuals discover new things via suggestions, or by browsing profiles of people with similar tastes, they want to create a list of items to enjoy later.
The new Like Button, pictured left, fulfills this need.
Expressing your interest in an item still requires only a simple, single click. However, Save For Later is now accessible via a drop-down menu.
Alex often says that ’simplicity is a cathartic experience.’ With this in mind I would be remiss if I did not mention the cathartic journey that Jason took in order to deliver this feature so simply.
Thank you for your feedback on this feature, we look forward to launching it soon.

Yesterday we released Addon Adhesive, a new sticker for Glue.
The sticker rewards individuals who have added Glue to their browser and are now seeing filtered friend reviews and personalized suggestions on popular sites across the web.
The Addon Adhesive sticker is smart, it displays the icon for the browser you have added Glue to. Different people will have slightly different versions of the sticker, depending on whether they have Glue for IE, Glue for Firefox or Glue for Chrome installed.
Some people have asked how this impacts the Bootcamp sticker. Previously, one of the Bootcamp requisites was adding Glue to a browser. Bootcamp still exists but adding Glue to a browser is no longer part of the process.
We hope you enjoy Addon Adhesive and look forward to hearing your thoughts on this new sticker!

iGlueHulu is a simple way to import your TV Shows from Hulu into your Glue account.
The app was built by Byron Carasco, a developer who’s active in the Glue community. Byron used Hulu’s feed capabilities and leveraged the Glue API.
Here’s how the app works:
1) Visit http://igluehulu.appspot.com/ and enter your Hulu username and Glue username and password.
2) You’ll see a progress bar proceed across the screen and, when complete, will show you how many shows have been imported.
3) Visit your Glue profile and you’ll see that the shows now appear in your collection.
For example, my good friend Steffan just ran the app for his Hulu account and you can see the 5 shows appear in his Glue profile (pic).
Now, for the app to work you need to be subscribed to the shows on Hulu. Here’s a picture showing you how to subscribe to shows on Hulu.
If you have a Glue account and watch TV Shows on Hulu, you should use iGlueHulu to sync your Hulu information to Glue.
Thanks Byron for creating this tool for everyone to benefit from! If you have an idea for how to improve Glue, why not build something via the Glue API?

Today we are introducing Top Lists to GetGlue.com. This addition to the site builds upon the Popular tab that previously existed on the GetGlue.com homepage.

The Top Lists provide an easy way to discover, and rate new items on GetGlue.com.

Discover: visit the various Top Lists to find new items within an area that you love. Say you love mafia movies - you can visit the Mafia Top List to discover new ones to watch.
Rate: the top lists provide an organization that makes it easy to find your old favorites. You can then quickly rate a number of items to further personalize your Suggestions.
Lists currently exist for the following categories: Books, Movies, Recording Artists, and TV Shows. Additionally, there are Popular and Beloved Lists.
Categories contain Top Lists for a mix of specific genres (Comedies) and fun groupings (Flawed Protagonists). Beloved and Popular contain relevant Top Lists for each category on Glue.
